Summer is here, love is in the air, and wedding bells are ringing! While you’ve probably planned your big day right down to the last detail, have you taken a moment to think about preparing your skin? With pent-up demand for weddings and celebrations post-Covid, now more than ever we want wedding-ready skin.

You want to look and feel your absolute best as you celebrate these memorable occasions but achieving that picture-perfect glow requires a little extra effort and care.

Let’s start at the beginning, how early should you start preparing your skin? The best time to start planning your wedding or event skin care is now! Give yourself plenty of time as skincare, like most worthwhile things, takes time.

In this blog, I am sharing a derm-approved skin care timeline that will help you navigate the months leading up to your event, ensuring your skin is wedding or event ready:-

6 months out

While the 6-month mark may seem early, it's actually the ideal time to develop some healthy skincare habits. Seeking guidance from a trusted dermatologist will help you determine the right skincare regimen and treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.

 - If you're not already on a retinol/retinoid, now would be a good time to start! Remember, patience is key as results may take a few months to show up.

- Address any acne or rosacea concerns now with treatments from your dermatologist. Make sure to give treatments the time they need to work their magic.

-Establish a healthy skin routine with a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and of course, don't forget the holy grail: sunscreen!

-If you're looking to get laser hair removal, start now. Hair growth cycles vary, and multiple treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart are required for optimal results.

-Establish a healthy diet and exercise routine to help you get ready for the wedding.By starting now, you can avoid last-minute crash diets that often leave you feeling tired, irritable, and with lackluster skin.

Pro tip:- If you're new to neuromodulators, try them out now to see if you like the results and ensure it's the look you desire!

2-3 months out

- Check back in with your dermatologist to make sure your skin is showing improvement and to address any other concerns you have. Now is a great time to use filler or biostimulant products as the results will last and often it takes time to settle in.

-If you're considering fat removal treatments like liposuction or cryolipolysis (CoolSculpting), now is the ideal time to undergo them. Keep in mind that these procedures may take several months to showcase their full effect.

-Schedule medium depth peels or intense laser treatments during this period, allowing ample time for your skin to heal and any post-treatment inflammation or redness to subside.

1 month out

Approaching the 1-month mark, it's time to focus on the final touches for your skin.

-See your dermatologist for a chemical peel or lighter laser treatment to help your skin glow.

-If you're considering neuromodulators, now is the right time to go for it. This allows any potential bruising to resolve before the event or wedding.

-Prioritize self-care by making sure you are getting sufficient rest, sleep, and water.

-Avoid getting a natural tan, especially to prevent tan lines. Instead, opt for a sunless tanner to achieve a healthy, bronze look without the risks associated with sun exposure.

Day of the wedding or event

-Begin your day with a gentle cleanser and a lightweight moisturizer. Avoid heavy products that may interfere with makeup application.

-If you're working with a professional makeup artist, make sure they understand your desired look! Now that you have gorgeous and healthy skin, don't hide it under a lot of makeup. Instead let your skin stand out; you worked hard for this glow up!

- Enjoy your special day, and remember that a relaxed mind and confident smile contribute to your overall glow!
